Trey DeLaPena
Special Agent, U.S. Defense Criminal Investigate Service
Special Agent Trey DeLaPena began his law enforcement career as a Special Agent with the Department of the Interior, Office of Inspector General in Sacramento, California, investigating fraud and public corruption cases. This included a criminal prosecution of a prominent University of California, Los Angeles Physics professor. SA DeLaPena joined the U.S. Defense Criminal Investigative Service in August 2012 in Long Beach, California, conducting a variety of investigations, most notably the Glenn Defense Marine Asia case that led to dozens of indictments of corrupt U.S. Navy officials and contractors, convictions, and recoveries, as well as several other kickback and contract fraud cases. In August 2018, SA DeLaPena transferred to DCIS’s office in Wiesbaden, Germany, where he has conducted investigations throughout Europe and Africa, including multi-agency and multi-country search warrant executions, arrests, international lures, and undercover operations. SA DeLaPena’s work has resulted in dozens of prosecutions, both U.S. and host nation, and multiple successful international extraditions.
SA DeLaPena graduated from the University of Virginia in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting. In 2018, SA DeLaPena earned a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California, Price School of Public Policy. SA DeLaPena is an adjunct instructor for the U.S. Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.
