Mapping Risk in a Changing World
Course description
2020 has seen internal audit and risk teams across the globe adapt to multiple crises, often with little warning.
Many have done well, quickly amending agreed annual plans to focus on the risks arising from the ‘new normal’. Others have sought to persuade executives and senior management that the multiple changes arising from Covid-19 require a profound shift in focus.
2021 promises to be little different. Disruption and volatility are here to stay. How can we use what we have learned from the past six months to better prepare for 2021 and beyond?
This practical, hands-on course encourages discussion and reflection. It includes small-group exercises based on real-life examples and case studies.
Objectives
This workshop draws on attendees’ experience to map areas of emerging or increased risk arising from Covid-19 and different governments’ responses. Afterwards, attendees will be able to return to their teams with:
- a greater appreciation of current, emerging and future risks in their own and other sectors, and how these affect each other;
- examples of good practice in articulating risks and persuading senior decision-makers; and
practical ideas of how to develop or adapt plans to provide assurance more effectively and efficiently.
Target Audience
The course is relevant to people at all levels, from trainee to director, and particularly those working in compliance, risk and internal audit.
