Leadership & Political Savvy in Internal Audit (1.5 days)

This one and a half day course explains the principles and dilemmas around effective leadership for heads of audit and senior audit managers.

 

Who should attend?

Heads of internal audit and Senior Audit managers seeking to develop their leadership and strategic influencing and stakeholder management skills.

 

What will I learn?

Upon completion you will be able to:

  • Distinguish between leadership and management

  • Assess your leadership style against several models

  • Recognise leadership needs to change with the context

  • Develop your presence and brand

  • Refresher on stakeholder management

  • Recognise organisational politics and learn to be politically savvy in a positive way

 

We will use a case study and practical discussions to examine specific situations and allow participants to identify new behaviours that can enhance their presence and brand and over-come long-standing challenges.

James C Paterson is a former Head of Internal Audit. He is on the IIA UK panel for EQA, helping to set up their EQA assessment frameworks.  He has extensive experience of doing EQAs, and also helps organisations prepare for an EQA. He delivers this course across Europe, including other courses on how to qualify to be an EQA assessor. He is the author of the book “Lean auditing”
