Dr Nancy Onyango is the Director, Office of internal Audit at the International Monetary Fund.
She has 30 years’ experience in IT audit & consulting, risk management, internal audit, corporate governance, systems and process assurance. Nancy also previously worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers in the UK, Europe,
Asia and East Africa, and with EY as the Governance, Risk and Compliance Africa leader. Nancy is also a Gender Leadership specialist. Her doctoral dissertation was on the “Perceived Barriers Faced by Women in Ascending to
CEO Positions in Kenyan Corporations”.
Nancy holds a B. Comm (1st Class Honours), an MBA (Management Information Systems) both from Universityof Nairobi, Kenya and a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from USIU- Africa. She is also a qualified
CPA (K), a Certified Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) practitioner, Certified in Corporate Governance for Enterprise IT (CGEIT), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified in Risk Management
Assurance (CRMA).
Nancy was an independent Board member of Fairtrade Africa (FTA) and Fairtrade International Board (Finance Committee) She is the Chair of the Finance & HR Committee of FTA. She also sat on the Boards of KCB Group,
KCB Kenya, and Cytonn Investments Limited, which she left at the request of the IMF. In most Boards that she has sat on, she has been extensively involved with the finance, risk, audit or IT committees. She was also the first female President of ISACA Kenya Chapter and a Board member.
She is a Global Give Back Circle mentor, and a mother of 3 sons.
